Websites Done Well
In past blogs here at Incyte we have talked about “what makes a successful website” and “how to sell on the web”. But this week we’re going to show you already successful websites and the features that make them that way. To use a company everyone is familiar with, lets walk through the world famous Starbucks website.
The first thing we notice when visiting the Starbucks website is the avast of pictures they have. Pictures are an excellent way to excite your viewer and even show what you’re all about. Now clearly we all know Starbucks is coffee, but for a company less known pictures could be the key factor in describing yourself to a consumer. Starbucks does a great job displaying their products and increasing your crave for coffee just looking at their homepage. On the same note be careful with your pictures placed because too many can become tacky and kill your website.
Rolling right along with the great use of pictures the next thing you may notice is all the little buttons that say “SHOP NOW”, or “BUY NOW”. These are what we refer to as “calls to action”, These are very important because you want to make it as easy as possible for the customer to actually purchase your product, So be sure to add these wherever you can. You can place a call to action in a picture (as you see above) or even in your text like you see used in this paragraph.
How many times have you seen the Starbucks website marked “down for maintenance” or loading slowly (not due to your internet quality). Chances are slim to none, this is because they make sure to maintain their web presence at the highest level of standards as you should with your site also. Having your website “go down” or be in-accessible is the equivalent of a customer walking into your store and receive terrible customer service. It leaves a bad taste in their mouth reducing their chance of coming back. On the same note it is important to have your site both PC and mobile friendly as more consumers are accessing the internet through phone or tablet now days.
Another smart thing to do for your website is create a complementary application. While this is not directly associated with your website it can be very beneficial to your brand name marketing. Having an application gives the customer access to your brand at the tip of their fingers 24/7. With an application you can create gamification for the customer, offering special deals and fun events that are entertaining but also help drive business to either your website or your store directly.
Everything we have talked about is just a quick run-through of the world famous Starbucks website and why it’s successful.
